DISNEY FIX: TIME TRAVEL FRIDAY

Posted in Disney Fix on Friday, October 16th, 2009

HAPPY FRIDAY, INNSIDERS!

Nobody knows retro like the Howard Johnson Hotel in Anaheim knows retro- so today we are going to take a little trip together. You don’t need a passport or anything, but you might want to fix yourself a little in flight snack and your beverage of choice- because we are going back in time!

Donald Ballard was gracious enough to convert vintage 16mm Disneyland Hotel footage film and share it with MiceChatters

No, there’s nothing wrong with your television set, so don’t try to adjust it!

Donald Ballard, the author of Disneyland® Hotel: The Early Years 1954-1988 was gracious enough to share some images, like the one above, from the vintage 16mm film footage of the Disneyland Hotel that he recently acquired and converted to DVD. He posted these images in a thread on MiceChat yesterday, and after following a link through to his site, I sort of fell into a vortex of Disneyana!

The Magical Hotel provides pictures of brochures, maps, historical and promotional photos, postcards and other rare treats that give us a glimpse of the Disneyland Hotel as it was in the beginning. I really enjoyed looking at the maps and trying to figure out what parts of Downtown Disney are there now- especially the Monorail!

If you don’t quite get your fix there, you can also stop by his blog for trivia, stories, postcards, brochures, images and a whole lot more!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go out for a little stroll!

See you in the Parks!

DISNEY FIX: TILT-SHIFT VIDEO EXPLAINED

Posted in Disney Fix on Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Just because you’re not at a Disney Park doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be allowed to have a Disney Experience! The good folks that run the DisneyParks YouTube Channel must agree, because they posted something last week that lets those of us who are not physically in the Parks share in the Celebration!

Isn’t that amazing?! Come on- admit it; you teared up a little at the end too! :D

Curious about how they did it? Well, it turns out that a lot of us were, so they actually did a Q&A with the man behind the magic, David Roark, on the DisneyParks Blog!

Oh, and have you been wracking your brain, searching for that perfect gift for the Disney loving, purse carrying, special someone in your life? Well- these new Dooney & Bourke bags with a Disney theme may be just the thing you’ve been looking for! Apparently, these suckers are hard to get in stores, but some people have had luck by calling the Disney Merchandise number at 1-407-363-6200.

If you’d like more information, you can read this blog post by the Bostonista or this thread on the DISBoards.

Is there something that you’d like me to post on, or find out more about? Email me at Lorealle.Bishop@hojoanaheim.com!

See you in the Parks!
